Dottie Walters: Beloved Friend and Hero
Dottie Walters and Terri Marie at her famous soda fountain
Dottie Walters was a rare woman.
Few had her charm, her wisdom and her
great love for all of humanity.
Dottie passed away the day I was packing to
go see her and deliver the book we had just
written together. She wanted to share
what she had learned in her life.
Dottie was a lover of Einstein. His quote
inspired the title for our book,
The Solution is at Hand: The Dottie
Walter's Story.
Here is my message to Dottie on her next part of her journey.
Dottie, now that you are back in God's hands,
I have a message for you.
Only you could have done it Dottie.
You died on Valentines Day and were born
on New Year's Eve. Everything you did was
a gift Dottie.
You picked the perfect day to go back and
be with your beloved husband Bob, whom
you missed so dearly.
But every day you practiced being a Valentine.
You gave love and encouragement to everyone
you spoke to or wrote to.
Only you Dottie would stay until you knew our
book was finished, even though it wasn't easy
for you and I'm sure you would've liked to have
left a lot sooner.
You knew the world needed messages of hope and you
over delivered whatever you were asked to do.
Only you could have kept on going, pushing your
babies in a broken down stroller with cardboard in
your worn out shoes.
Only you, would "never give up. Never give up," in
your glorious Scottish way.
Only you would bring together all the
Speaker's Bureau's to help each other.
Only you could inspire women to enter
and thrive in the then-man's world of selling.
Only you could do it with such class.
Only you could tell a story with such
enthusiasm and charm.
Only you could ignite people's fire for the gift
you saw within each of them.
Only you Dottie.
I shall miss you so much.
Your friend,
Terri Marie
